If you have some video files in certain formats and you want to convert them to other video formats for your player such as iPod, iPhone, PSP, mobile phones, iRiver, walkman etc., Wondershare Video Converter Platinum will be the perfect choice. Step 1: Add Video files
Click the Add button, and the program will let you browse your computer hard drive. Select the video files you want to convert and click OK
Step 2: Output Settings
After adding video files, you can start to set output settings for each file:
Select an output format profile from the Profile drop-down list. You can just select a profile according to the name of your player and use the default settings.If you want to make your own settings, you can click the Settings button to set the parameters and save your settings as a new profile.
Click the Browse button 
to specify an output folder for saving the converted files.
Note 1: If you want to convert all the added files into one format with the same encoding parameters, you can just click the “Apply to All” button.
Note 2: You can check the “Merger into one file” option to convert all the added video files into a single file.
Step 3: Click the Start button to start the conversion. And now you can just stretch your arms, go get a glass of orange juice (since it is heather than coffee: ) ), and wait till the conversion is finished. The remaining time will be shown on conversion window for your reference.
After the above three easy steps, you can just put the converted files onto your player and start enjoy your videos with their original effects. However, if you want to edit your videos before converting them, you may find the following tips very useful:
Click the Edit button and you will find that this software provides the three options to edit your videos. And the program provides real time preview as you edit each file.
Tip 1: Crop Video
If a video file has black video sides around, you can crop the black sides off. You can just specify the video crop area by dragging the crop frame on the left preview window.
Tip 2: Movie Effect
If you want to change the original video effect, you can click the Effect tab to set the video brightness, contrast and saturation. You can also choose to apply a special effect to your video from the available effects including Gray, Emboss and Negative.
Note: If a converted video has stripes, you can select the Deinterlace mode here and convert the original file again to remove the stripes.
Tip 3: Trim Movie
If you just want to convert a clip from a video file, you can click the Trim tab to capture a part from it. You can trim video length by dragging the Start Time and End Time sliders (the highlighted two sliders by rectangles).
You can also trim a movie by marking the start and the end: During the preview, if you want to set the current time as the start time, click the oval highlighted button on the left; if you want to set the current time as the end time, click the oval highlighted button on the right. Then the video clip in between will be captured.
The easiest way to capture a clip is to directly input the Start time in the “Start time” field and click OK, and then enter the End time in the “End time” field and click OK.
Tip 4 : Change the quality or size of the output file
To change the quality or size of an output file, you can follow the steps below:
1. Choose the output format you prefer.
2. If this format only has one video encoder and one audio encoder, you can just change its quality or size by adjusting its video bitrate and audio bitrate. If you want a higher quality or a bigger size, you can increase the video bitrate and audio bitrate, vice versa.You can estimate the output quality or size following the expressions:
File quality (File size) = File length x ( video bitrate value + audio bitrate value)
Note: Some formats have two video encoder options: xvid and H264. H264 usually has a higher quality than xvid.
For wmv formats, wmv1，wmv2，wmv3, wmv3 has the best quality.
